C is ONE!!!

We had a lovely brunch with friends yesterday to celebrate C's birthday (today!!) and Gotcha Day (Thursday). C's godparents, M & D came, along with our neighbor and his daughter (his wife was out of town) and fellow blogger Kerry (our volunteer photographer!) and her lovely family. (Hi K, and thanks for the awesome photos!!)

Without further ado... here is our ONE-YEAR-OLD!!!

simple decoration of blocks! :)

Table setting - I kept it simple with just some flowers
and personalized place settings.

Awesome neighbors - helped assemble the crib when we brought C home!

Kerry's daughter... who shortly after this photo was taken,
announced that she and C were getting married.
I'm just getting used to having a toddler and already he's engaged!!

Shortly before cake... not so happy :)

Tickles help!

This is his "Oh no!" pose... hmmm....

A taste of the icing

Not so happy

I don't really like this, Mom.
What is this?!? Where's my birthday smoothie?
My sister R said that C needed to have a smash cake when I explained that I wasn't doing cake but instead making him a birthday smoothie. (I've never really liked cake myself, but she insisted.) I made these Paleo Brownies because I didn't want to make him anything with sugar. He only ate the lick of icing I gave him, and then a spoonful that my hubby gave him, and with the spoonful he got really upset. He preferred the strawberries instead!! I guess Paleo is working since he gobbles down his breakfast smoothies with cod liver oil in them!?!

I love reading!

Kerry and her awesome family :)
I wouldn't have a blog without her! Love you, K!

My sweet ONE-YEAR-OLD!!!

Happy Birthday, C!!! You are SO LOVED!!!!

what makes me smile

He follows me when I'm vacuuming and helps to "push" it along. :)

Baby shoes. My heart flutters every time I see them.

Sunny days - it's so nice to be outside!!

Kisses in the mirror.

Pots and pans. I wonder what he's making for dinner tonight?

My Grandma has one of those lazy susan corner cabinets that spin all the way around. When my sister S and I were little, we used to walk in and around the back of the cabinet. Sorry C - Mama doesn't have that kind of cabinet anymore!

The result of C liking to sit on my lap when I'm working on the computer.

My best unloading helper. Clean or dirty... it doesn't matter. :)

I'm going on retreat this weekend - you will all be in my prayers! Happy Friday! :)

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter, Friends! :)

We had a lovely weekend visiting my sister V, her husband and my new niece!! :) She is a gorgeous baby... C was so excited to meet her!! :)

She was just precious! :) Ahhh, little girls and all things pink! :)

C learned to crawl up the stairs while we were there! He did his first CrossFit workout too... 3 rounds of stairs for time. Haha. :) He's walking even better now. Still mostly steps without realizing it, but letting go of support more and more. Crazy!!!! And he's almost 26 pounds. Sheesh, boy. You better be walking soon! Mommy is getting a workout!!

Nope, not interested in looking at the camera. He just wanted my necklace.

Anyway, it was a wonderful weekend. We split up to get to the Good Friday liturgy (after going to mass on Holy Thursday, and driving late, C was quite a bit sleep deprived). So - we stuck to his nap schedule on Friday. Saturday, DH went to the Vigil alone (the first one I've missed in years, but someone needed to stay with C. We went to Mass on Sunday (it was pouring when we left), so didn't get pics outside, but had a great brunch and relaxed the rest of the day. We didn't do an egg hunt - that wasn't part of my family tradition growing up - we hunted for our Easter baskets with some help from a jelly bean trail left by the Easter bunny. :) DH's family did an egg hunt. I don't know what we'll do next year. C got a few books this year. He loves the books by Sandra Boynton! He sat quietly on my lap Monday morning for almost 20 minutes while I read to him. I guess they were a winner! :)

We're home now and getting back into the swing of things... catching up on blogs and FB! Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!
