Hi Everyone! (by Caleb)

Hi Everyone!

I can't wait to see all of you! :) In the meantime, I thought I'd give you a summary of my first few days at home.

My first night, I learned that I was a night owl. Mommy and Daddy said something about my days and nights being mixed up, but I'm not so sure. I think I like nighttime.

My first night, I also thought it would be a good idea to make sure all my parts worked. I soaked through all kinds of clothes and diapers. Mommy and Daddy need tons of practice changing me, so I was happy to oblige.

I slept a lot during my second day at home. Mommy and Daddy listened to everyone and tried to sleep when I did, but every time I woke up, they were right there. I don't think they were sleeping that well. I don't know why really; I'm too little to go anywhere and get into trouble. But I'm already thinking good things up. :)

That night, we had our first visitors. They were nice enough to bring me lots of fun things, like a boppy and a bassinet, so I could sleep closer to Mommy and Daddy. I didn't like it that night, but the next morning, I decided it would be okay to try it out. I was REALLY nice that night - I slept 3 hours at a time. I even slept for a few hours in the morning while my Daddy slept and while Mommy went to Mass and get me more formula. I need lots; I'm a growing boy! (Well, the doctor declared me a healthy boy, but said I had lost some weight. Just wait til I show her! Just wait til my next appointment, Doc!)

The second night, we had some other friends visit. I let them hold me and I slept. They are really nice friends. They came over when I was born and helped move the desk out of my room to make room for my crib! And, they decorated the front door with balloons, and a beautiful sign welcoming me home! It's so nice to have good friends!!

Oh, and I'm smiling for Mommy and Daddy. They love it!! They keep telling me I'm the cutest and bestest baby in the world. (Shhh.... I already knew that. :))

Well... it's time for another nap. I'll write more later.

Love,
Caleb

ps: Thank you for praying for me to find my Mommy and Daddy!! I'm so happy my birthmom chose life!!

Thankful Thursday

Some days are just a "list post" kind of day, aren't they? :)

Today, I'm thankful for:

1) My super-amazing DH. :)

2) A great dinner last week with Rebecca!! I LOVE blogger meet-ups!

3) My retreat coming up this weekend... it will be so good to be quiet for a few days.

4) Our new glider chair and dresser and crib that were delivered for when we get "the call". We have the dresser and chair in place (DH has already declared that we will need to get another glider chair so we can each have one... I think that will need to wait until we move!) The crib is still in the box in the basement. Our desk is in the way... have to sell it on Craig.slist and then get a much smaller one. Then we'll get the crib in the room. I love the furniture! We ordered a set from JCP, then had to return it as the dresser was damaged. I didn't like the color anyway, so it was just as well. Did I blog about this already? Anyway, I will take pictures and post them after this weekend. Right now, there is still a bunch of stuff that needs to be moved elsewhere. Where else? I'm not sure... :-/

5) A surprise visit from my sister M, this past Sunday. She had to fly up to the area for a meeting on Monday, called Saturday night and asked if we could watch the hockey game together. Awesome! I so miss having her live nearby!

6) Local ultrasounds! I like not having my gas bill go up by $300 for the month! I have my scan for CD12 tomorrow. I have 4 small follicles on my right, and 6 on my left. The lead one is on my left. Interesting that I still have so many, without taking the Femara. What the heck is normal? And what on earth is my body doing?!? At least it will only have to go on for a few days next week. This weekend I'm on retreat and the office is closed anyway.

7) My first acupuncture appointment tomorrow. I'm REALLY excited! Maybe she'll have some suggestions as well.

What are you thankful for today?

4th Ultrasound Series coming up!

Thank you all so, so much for your comments on my last post. I feel much better today, thank goodness. I really was feeling so patient... but finding out we were her "second" choice was tough. The chosen family had a DVD prepared... we did not. We kind of put it off - when we went to an Ed series class, there were several family who did not have one, or who said no one would ever see their video! Plus, it's expensive. Silly, when you consider the enormous check we'll have to write out once we get chosen. In any case, we're trying to schedule the session with the videographer - and we keep having schedule hiccups. Please pray we can get that scheduled soon! I don't want to be another "second" choice because we don't have a video!

Since we have no idea when a call will actually come... I'm wondering if maybe God said no this time because he wants to do amazing things during my next cycle, right? During another ultrasound series? Yes, of course, sign me up! Oh, if only.... :)

But, yes. I'm doing another one. Dr. M looked over my cycle review and thought it was an excellent idea to do an unmedicated ultrasound cycle. So, no femara, no HCG trigger, no cytotec. I'll just be taking post-peak estradiol and prometrium and the CM enhancers - amoxicillin, B6, fertile.aid and fertile.cm. No evening primrose oil though. I told the nurse I really didn't enjoy having an oily face! That was just plain yucky. I am just really interested (slightly scared. Ok, a lot scared) to see what develops without all the crazy stimulation.

However - praise the Lord - the nurse said they have had some patients in my area use a local radiology clinic. I was all for that switch. No more 2+ hour drives?  I called and scheduled the appointments right after I got off the phone with the nurse. The nurse confirmed that this clinic has worked with a few of their patients and knows their protocol. When I called to schedule the series, the scheduler seemed to know exactly what I was talking about and knew that I'd be coming in for a bunch of scans. She scheduled all of them right away, so I should be set. It's 15-20 minutes away, and only 10 minutes away from the church I go to for daily mass. What a relief!!!

Also, Dr. M is most definitely taking my chart with her on her trip late this month to consult with Dr. H. Sweet!!! Maybe together the two of them can come up with something great.

Again, I am so grateful for your comments and prayers on my last post. Your prayers are working - I feel much more at peace today. :)

We weren't picked.

We were her "second choice." I think I understand now why our agency doesn't normally let waiting parents know when their profile is being shown. I've honestly felt really patient up to to this point, but now, this is such a disappointment. I know God has our baby out there... but, man, this is hard.

Thanks for your prayers everyone, they are much appreciated.
